The Century Plant

I had the lucky chance to be driving past Elizabeth on 37th in Savannah, Georgia while their Century Plant was in bloom.  At first I thought this was a SUPER rare occasion, but after a little Wikipedia-search, I found that they live 10-30 years, not the 100 that I had thought.

According to Wikipedia, the Agave Americana, does only flower once, but in the 10 to 30 years of existence, it "throws" offshoots to perpetuate itself.

Regardless of the actual age of the plant, it is still an impressive sight!
